CFTC Gundog Weekend

The following is some feedback from the events held on the 8th and 9th of March at Nuwejaarsrivier in the Botrivier area.
On Saturday the 8th March the Hunt, Point and Retrieve enthusiasts spent a glorious summer’s day in the Fynbos.
10 dogs were entered in the Natural Ability Test, and seven were entered in the Working Test.
Results – Saturday 8 March

Natural Ability Test:
The following dogs passed;
1. Stephen du Toit’s GSP bitch, Ella
2. Rodney Pachter’s GSP dog, Tembi

Working Test:
The following dogs passed;
1. Stephen du Toit’s GSP bitch, Ella (149 pts.)
2. Mariann Wilson’s GSP dog, Zed (130 pts.)

On Sunday, 9 March it was the Retrievers’ turn to show their mettle in the first ever AFGRI Animal Feeds Gundog Working Test (GWT).
We had 11 entries in the Beginner Class, nine entries in the Intermediate Class and six of the dogs felt brave enough to give the Advanced Test a try.
11 hours and 166 retrieves later we noticed that there were quite a few tired but smiling faces reflecting on the events of an extremely successful day in the veld.

GWT Results – Sunday 9 March:
1st Place – Liquorice (Flat-Coated Retriever), handled by Amanda de Wet
2nd Place – Mooshus (Labrador Retriever), handled by Kobus le Roux
3rd Place – Layla-Roo (Labrador Retriever), handled by Carine le Roux
4th Place – Quinta (Labrador Retriever), handled by Annarie Brandt

Intermediate Class:
1st Place – Skye (Labrador Retriever), handled by Lisa Dimech
2nd Place – Breeze (Labrador Retriever), handled by Elaine Walker
3rd Place – Gena (Flat-Coated Retriever), handled by Cornelia Naudé

Advanced Class:
1st Place – Artemis (Labrador Retriever), handled by Kobus le Roux
2nd Place – Timba (Golden Retriever), handled by Heather Hallauer
3rd Place – O’Mally (Labrador Retriever), handled by Irene McCulloch
